The Family Course (New this year at Afton)
The Family Course Program allows family members to play golf from appropriate yardages this builds confidence, enjoyment and the ability to maintain pace of play.
Please call 651-436-1320 to reserve a tee time.
Level 1 – Red
Play from the 100 yard area. This is marked by red poles on each side of the fairway. You can start anywhere between the red poles. Your goal is to reach the green with two shots and have a chance to make two putts for a par.
When you are making 5 or more pars on 9 holes from the 100 yard distance then it is time to move to the level 2, 150 yard distance.
Level 2 – White
Play from the 150 yard area, this is marked by white poles on each side of the fairway. If the fairway does not have 150 yard poles, play from the 100 yard area, which is marked with red poles on each side of the fairway. On hole 15 play from the red markers on the tee box. Your goal is to reach the green with two shots and make two putts for a par.
Move to the level 3, 200 yard distance, when you are scoring 5 or more pars on 9 holes from the 150 yard distance.
Level 3 – Blue
Play from the 200 yard area, this is marked by blue poles on each side of the fairway. If the fairway doesn’t have 200 yard poles, play from the 150 yard area, which is marked with white poles on each side of the fairway. There are 4 holes that don’t have the 150 yard markers on the fairway such as 2, 9, 12, and 15. On the holes that don’t have 150 yard markers play from the red tee markers on the tee box.Your goal is to reach the green with two shots and make two putts for a par.
Move to the red tees on the tee box when you are scoring 5 or more pars on 9 holes from the 200 yard distance. At this point you will be using the regulation score card. As you improve as a player you will move to the white tees and then to the blue or expert tees.
We wish you the best as you progress as a golfer. Golf is a wonderful lifetime sport.
Find the distance that is appropriate for you ability and have FUN!
